The Shelburne County Arts Council (SCAC)is proud to offer an art scholarship for any graduating student or graduate residing within Shelburne County. This scholarship is intended to reward arts students for past accomplishments and to encourage future pursuits in the arts.

Established in 20021, the mandate of the Shelburne County Arts Council is to support and promote the development of art, artists, and art education in Shelburne County, with a special focus on youth and education.

This scholarship was established in memory of Peter Oliver, who was the director of the Basement Theatre in Shelburne, and his wife Joan - both were mentors and friends to many students. Peter has been described by his students as being dynamic, fun, challenging, curious, brave yet devoted, and a perpetually interesting man who gave something to the people of Shelburne that should be celebrated. Peter and Joan will be remembered for their own great accomplishments in the arts and for the accomplishments they allowed other people to experience.
