Supporting Gaelic language, culture and identity

The Gaelic Community Development Fund was established by the  Gaelic Council of Nova Scotia to provide funding support to Gaelic language, cultural, and identity capacity building initiatives in communities so Gaels, as a unique ethnocultural group, continue to contribute to Nova Scotia life.

This fund supports the social needs and broad interests of Gaels as a people, including language and culture, that may pertain to education, arts, heritage, health, wellness, recreation, sport, and spirituality of our vibrant communities.

The fund is administered by those who wish to support Gaelic language, culture, and identity in the province. They:

  • help grow the fund by promoting it and encouraging community members to contribute to and support the fund’s activities;
  • engage with community members to better understand needs and opportunities; and
  • grant from the fund to local organizations that deliver Gaelic language and cultural programs, initiatives and projects.

Your gift to the Gaelic Community Development Fund will never outlive its usefulness. The Fund is a permanent endowment fund, meaning only the interest is used to support local causes. Your gift contributes to the vitality of the community both today and tomorrow. What better gift can you give to your friends, your family, and your neighbours?
