How the fund works

A Fund Advisory Committee is responsible for stewardship of the Fund and will review applications annually and distribute the interest generated by the fund. The committee works to:

1. Spread the word about the fund, and its long-term potential to help develop the area.
2. Actively engage with others to understand the needs and opportunities of our area.
3. Review requests and allocate grants from the fund to local community organizations.

Grants from the Fund

Eligibility Criteria 

In order to be eligible for a grant, an organization must:  

• Be actively working on issues or projects on the Eastern Shore, and 
• Be registered as a charity with Canada Revenue Agency, or as a non-profit organization registered with the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stock Companies or 
• Create a formal partnership with a local charity or municipality to carry out the work supported by this grant.  

Assessment Criteria 

All submissions will be evaluated against the following criteria:  

• Who/what will be impacted by the project and in what way? 
• What other funding you expect to receive or have received. 
• Your current budget for the project.
