Scholarship #1: An educational award to support graduating high school students pursuing undergraduate studies in engineering, agriculture, or health (human or animal).
Passionate about supporting and assisting promising students who plan to contribute to the community in the areas of engineering, health and the food industry, the donors have established the AJM Fund. Each year, the Fund will grant a scholarship to assist students enrolled in a related university program who have graduated from a high school in Colchester County or East Hants Municipality or from Musquodoboit Rural High School.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this award candidates must meet all of the following criteria:
- be graduating from a high school in Colchester County, East Hants Municipality, or Musquodoboit Regional High School;
- be in receipt of no major scholarship (e.g., one that would cover 65% or more of the anticipated tuition) at the time of application;
- have a high school average of greater than 80 percent;
- have been involved in delivering a program that exemplifies the student’s
community interest and demonstrating positive impact on their community; - be accepted by a recognized post-secondary education institution (college or
university) in Canada and plan to attend that institution in the fall of the same year; and - shall submit their curriculum vitae with a 500-word essay on their impact on their selected community to the review committee in order to be considered for this
award.
Selection Criteria
Award winner(s) will be selected on the basis of financial need, community involvement and activity in the school or community, and character references.
Scholarship #2: For students who have completed a minimum of one year of post-secondary studies and are applying for a scholarship to support ongoing post-secondary studies.
To be eligible for support, the applications by the individual must:
Have grown up in the Maritimes and is pursuing within their Bachelor level degree activities that promote novel innovations in sustainable food production, and
shall submit their curriculum vitae with a 500-word essay on their impact on their selected field to the review committee in order to be considered for this award.
